Sunday’s action in the Mets minor leagues saw two wins (Syracuse, Brooklyn) and two losses (Binghamton, St. Lucie). It was a low-scoring day as the highest-scoring matchup among the four games was a 5-4 affair in St. Lucie. Among the best individual performances of the day were in Syracuse, where top prospectsDrew GilbertandBrandon Sproatplayed a pivotal part in the Mets’ victory.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (63-60) 2, Hartford Yard Goats (70-54) 4

The Rumble Ponies would add another run, but it wouldn’t be enough to win. A Matt Rudick homer and a Jaylen Palmer RBI double were the lone run-scoring hits.

The staff pitched well, but it wasn’t enough in the low-scoring affair.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (61-65) 6, Winston-Salem Dash (57-69) 2

BOX SCORE

  • C Ronald Hernandez: 2-for-4, 2B (2), R, 2 RBI (4) (.573 OPS)

The Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Winston-Salem Dash 6-2 due to a seventh inning in which Brooklyn scored all six of their runs. That broke a scoreless tie, with Winston-Salem’s two runs coming in the bottom of the ninth. Eight of the Cyclones’ nine starting batters recorded hits, with eight of the team’s 10 hits coming in that explosive seventh inning.

After trading zeroes for six innings, Ronald Hernandez gets Brooklyn on the board in the top of the 7th with an RBI double – the @nationalgridus Safe at Home Runs of the game – to give the ‘Clones a 2-0 edge.#AmazinStartsHere I #LGM I #MiLb pic.twitter.com/hTHoujRXVL

A first inning implosion by starter Jorge De Leon led to four runs, which prompted the Mets to yank De Leon from the game after recording just two outs. Four relivers combined to allow just one run in 8 1/3 innings. Brayhans Barreto and Edgar Moreta did the bulk of the work, combing for 6 1/3 innings, while 2024 12th-round pick Ethan Lanthier made his pro debut with a scoreless inning.
