Ready to be terrified again? Black Phone 2, the sequel to the 2021 horror hit, is hitting theaters, promising more chills and thrills. But if you're like most of us and prefer the comfort of your couch, you're probably wondering: When can I stream it?
The original Black Phone left us with a lingering fear of phone calls, and the sequel, directed by Scott Derrickson and co-written with C. Robert Cargill, picks up the story four years later, in 1982. Finney, played by Mason Thames, is still haunted by his kidnapping and near-murder at the hands of the Grabber (Ethan Hawke). When his sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) starts having visions, the nightmare reignites.
So, where can you watch Black Phone 2?
Currently, the only place to experience the fear is in a movie theater, with the U.S. premiere set for Friday, October 17th. You can find showtimes near you via Fandango.
Now, let's address the streaming question.
Black Phone 2 won't be on Netflix anytime soon. This is because the film is a Universal Pictures release.
But here's where it gets interesting... Almost all Universal movies head to Peacock, NBCUniversal's streaming platform.
You will be able to buy or rent Black Phone 2 on digital platforms eventually. Then, you'll be able to stream it on Amazon Prime Video, but only after it's been on Peacock. This is thanks to a deal between Universal and Amazon.
If predictions are correct, you might see Black Phone 2 streaming on Prime around June 2026.
So, what about Peacock?
The movie will be available to stream on Peacock first.
Peacock offers two subscription options: Premium (with ads) for $10.99/month and Premium Plus (ad-free) for $16.99/month. You can save money with annual plans, too.
And this is the part most people miss... You can also subscribe to Peacock Premium Plus through Prime Video, which gives you a seven-day free trial.
While the exact streaming date on Peacock hasn't been announced, based on the release pattern of other Universal horror films, like M3GAN 2.0, you might expect Black Phone 2 on Peacock around mid-to-late January 2026. However, some movies have arrived on Peacock in as little as two months, so it could be as early as mid-to-late December 2025.
Controversy & Comment Hooks: Keep in mind that Universal's digital release strategy isn't always consistent, so these dates are estimates.
