I've been a certified medical assistant for the better part of 25 yrs. My training goes well beyond what I do everyday in primary care. It saddens me as well as angers me that medical assistants aren't recognized or compensated as we deserve. No one is speaking up for us, not even the AAMA(American Association of Medical Asst). We have to pay out this money every year or 2 to be recertified and yet our pay grade hasn't moved. CNAs are more recognized and offered more opportunities for advancement than a med asst. The cost of living has tripled in the last 4 years and medical assts are getting anywhere from 2% to 3% raises. Something isn't adding up. We work very hard everyday, our providers can't do their jobs without us, we are the heartbeat of the practice. We would love to have a bridge program. A program that allows us to challenge ourselves and our knowledge of the field. Why can't their be a program in place where Med assts can bridge to LPN? Put LPNs in some of these primary care offices and urgent care sites. I'm just saying what others out there are thinking. Someone needs to speak up for Med assts. and create more opportunities for us.

While Medical Assistants (MAs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) may work together in the same setting, they fulfill different roles in the world of healthcare. CNAs focus more on providing the care and assistance that patients need in their everyday life, such as eating, bathing, taking medications, and physical therapy. Whereas, medical assistants focus on helping the doctors and nurses prepare and treat the patient. If you’re thinking about starting a career in healthcare, becoming a Medical Assistant is one of the fastest ways to get your foot in the door. The need for qualified healthcare workers has never been greater, and the opportunities for employment have never been more numerous. However, with so many career options available, you may be uncertain which role is best for you—given your goals, preferences, lifestyle, and strengths and weaknesses. #healthcare #medical it’s the most amazing opportunity to help others and to make them feel like their family. I’ve always been told that I got a special touch for medicine and I need to further my career because I am so passionate about my patients and how they are treated, and how we show respect and dignity at all times, you truly have to put your soul body and mind into also a fun fact we learn something new every day which is also another amazing thing about this career is that you’re always learning something new or given a new opportunity to try it’s the sky’s the limit there’s always bigger and better things and ways to help others succeed in life, and helping them to make them strong again, and feel good about themselves all at the same time
